Dedicated Call for Contribution to the Sustainability Session at FSiC 2024, organized by Sorbonne Université & LIP6.
Submission are expected in the form of extended abstracts, not exceeding one page, sent to:
fsic2024-sustainability(at)lip6.fr
Dead-line for submission : as soon as possible and before end of April 2024
Notification of acceptance : as soon as possible, 3 weeks after submission to review
Presentations : 19-21 June 2024
In this session, we address the promotion of a sustainable and healthy cooperative environment for all parties involved: from the hobbyist to academia, to enterprises. The goal is to design Intellectual Sharing (IS, contrary to Intellectual Property) i.e. digital or analogue circuit open descriptions in different open languages, representing different abstractions till layout, to be studied, improved, shared and reused.
This session includes the following topics:
- The sustainability of Open Electronic Design Automation (EDA) and Open Hardware on social, environmental and economical aspects of life.
- Open source EDA with environmental constraints to design sustainable low-power, low-area, sober open-source electronic circuits (Green-IS).
- Sustainable re-use approach to design IS: open design formats, interfaces, shared libraries facilitating the interaction between open source EDA software.
- Sustainable re-use solutions for Open EDA software to be compatible with different open flows: open formats, API, shared software libraries.
- Re-use experiments of IS targeting different PDK: description of the open PDK, compatibility between foundries, process nodes, format compliant with Open Source EDA software, process migration of the IS.
- Re-use strategy for a sustainable and extended life-time of Hardware: open documentation, interfaces, structure, hierarchy, designed to open and repair.
- Cooperation and sharing of resources in designing and verifying IS: repository concept, foundations, collaborative project.
- Sustainable maintenance: how to deal with a sustainable and extended life-time of Open Source EDA and PDK.
